DAET As An Occupation
DAET is unlike other businesses, which have a saturation point beyond which competition cannot exist. For example, there is a limit to the number of grocery stores that any neighborhood can accommodate. But I really do not see a limit to the number of people who can participate in DAET. DAET is growing every day and can accommodate continued growth far into the future. Don't let the future pass you by just because you fear competitive forces. Market competition actually betters the opportunity for talented traders.
The days when floor brokers would commute to the exchange, stand on their feet, and scream at other brokers for 6 ½ hours are quickly vanishing. I can't understand why anyone would suffer the indignities of a trading floor and be a slave to the market. Trading is hard work. Many markets slow down for a while after the opening, allowing floor traders to take time to rest after the frenzy of trading the opening. With DAET, there should be no market dead time because the trader can comfortably and effortlessly trade in a civilized environment.
More people are becoming electronic day traders at a faster rate than ever before. Middle-management executives are getting squeezed out of their jobs in droves by corporate downsizing. Many baby boomers are becoming disgusted with the monotony and hassles presented by their careers, sometimes even those in the more respected professions such as doctors, dentists, lawyers, and engineers, to name a few.
