individual day trader can now have his or her orders receive virtually the same visibility as that of the market makers. Most importantly, it gives the individual the ability to have an order executed in a matter of split seconds.
DAET
DAET is essentially what most people once called SOES trading, but with added features and benefits. With the techniques and technology I have been developing and utilizing for almost a decade, DAET enables the astute, disciplined trader to prosper far more than imagined.
Day trading is an old and honorable means of trading in which the participant holds a position in a security for only a short period of time in order to benefit (it is hoped) from moment-to-moment price movements. Traders using DAET can act like floor traders or "locals" on any exchange floor in order to maintain liquidity in the market. But one great advantage to DAET is that you don't have to stand on your feet in the pit all day and shout at strangers who are shouting at you.
DAET, utilizing Nasdaq Level II quotes and information from SelectNet and the ECNs, makes the average individual as well informed on prevailing market conditions as the market maker. The Level II screens show "real" current prices in the process of changing, allowing more astute decision making. In conjunction with a broker-dealer having DAET order entry ability, it allows access to the market and immediate entry into a fast-moving situation. DAET puts you in control of your trading environment and allows you to "work" your own order.
A Direct Access Electronic Trader is essentially a twenty-first-century tape trader. How many times have you seen people sitting in a boardroom at a brokerage firm watching prices coming across a ticker tape? The ticker tape is the trader's primary source of trading ideas. As the symbols and prices float across the tape, occasionally someone will walk over to a broker and hand the broker an order based on something the client has identified on the tape.
