What's wrong with this picture? How do you think Janie played that day? Of course she had a miserable day. She was trying to integrate the teachings of three very different instructors, each with a very different perspective on the swing, and each with no knowledge of what the others had taught her. The result was that the conflicting messages caused confusion, frustration, and eventually paralysis. She could barely even begin her swing!
This is how too many people have had to learn to trade. They took different courses from different instructors, each with a very different perspective on trading, and each with absolutely no knowledge of what others might have already taught them. Is it any wonder that many people conclude that trading is difficult, confusing, and impossible to learn?
It doesn't have to be that way. There is a better wayone that works. We call this approach the Six StepsTrading Fitness for Life.
With this program, you study trading as a process, learning to integrate a set of specific skills to produce the results you want from the market. Each step is designed to be a building block for the steps to come. You learn the skills you need in a sequential and logical order.
Figure 8.1 shows the logical flow through the Six Steps. It describes each step in detail, and suggests the basic classes which make up each step.
The real value of the process is that for the first time you have a basic, organized curriculum that you can follow to learn all of the things you will need to know to trade effectively and with confidence.
This is not to suggest that your learning stops when you complete the Six Steps . . . go back and read Step Six! Your learning has only begun. Once you have begun to trade with that core knowledge, you will begin to develop and perfect your own trading style. Your motivations and goals, your trading temperament, your risk propensity, and your money management skills will help you quickly see the areas where you need to concentrate further education.
For more information on the Six Steps, visit www.sixthmarket.com. Each of the classes is delivered over the Internet with streaming video presentations and comprehensive graphics. They are organized into 10- to 15-minute segments to match the optimum human attention span.
In this online format, you can use time to your advantage. Rather than trying to "cram" all of this education into a weekend seminaror even a two-week camp, take your time to learn, to digest, to reflect, and to revisit classes for deeper understanding. Best of all, all of these classes are free.
